The Remembered Table Discord Community
These values guide all of The Remembered Table’s actions and spaces in order to honor participants and their journeys. Failure to respect these values or the community guidelines will result in removal from the community.
TRT Guiding Values
Diverse and Inclusive
TRT wants to honor everyone's background, journey, and personhood and create an environment where we learn from a variety of people, communities, and schools of thought. To this end, we are inclusive and seek to uphold diverse voices. Whether race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, theological background, or experiences, we will welcome, accept, and affirm the presence, personhood, and value of every person with us. None shall be excluded from opportunities to participate or to lead based on any of these factors (provided that hate and harm are not part of a person's engagement).
Supportive over Prescriptive
Because everyone will be coming with their own set of experiences and challenges, TRT seeks to create supportive spaces for everyone to find their own practices and people rather than prescribing set ways of doing things. Though suggestions will be available if desired.
People First
Rather than focusing on rigid dogma, TRT seeks to focus on people. In theology and practice, we want to make room for a variety of beliefs and backgrounds, and we will put the people we serve before the protection of the organization.
Integration over Compartmentalization
At TRT, wholeness is paramount. We do not seek to separate our lives into spiritual and physical, intellectual or actionable. We want to help make practice of faith and connection to community simple and meaningful and to create pathways to deeper connection to God and others that honor our becoming as much as our doing or believing.
Community-Oriented
Though development of personal practices will exist, even in that we hope to develop in the presence of others. This is also not a content-forward organization, but one that invites participation together. TRT helps to rebuild what was lost as the people we are today. Content is included, but the program content (vs. marketing content) will always have a community participation opportunity in order to engage ideas and one another.
Trauma Aware
We recognize that leaving toxic church environments may come with a variety of spiritual trauma. We will not minimize these experiences, and we will operate as though trauma exists in every space we curate. We will also own the times we unintentionally trigger those in the room, and we will apologize and update processes and procedures accordingly.
Apostles’ Creed
We will not be in the business of policing beliefs of participants, but the organization holds and operates within the historical confession of the Apostles creed. However, we respect those who do not hold those beliefs and will gladly hold space for them and engage in respectful dialogue.
Community Guidelines
1. Registration Process
You must read, acknowledge and agree to these guidelines.
Once agreed, you will be taken to a registration page to insert your name and email address.
Once registered, you will receive an email with the link to join the “start here” channel.
Complete the Community Member form in that channel so we know your name and email so moderators can personally follow up on issues you or others may have.
Once completed, you will receive an invitation to join the other channels within 72 hours.
If at any point you change your username on Discord, you will need to re-submit a member form.
2. Embrace Respect, Kindness, and Compassion
Engage with others in a spirit of kindness and respect. This community is built for those who have been wounded or worn out by traditional faith spaces, so let’s support each other with grace and understanding.
Any form of harassment, bullying, hate speech, or discrimination based on race, gender identity or expression, sexuality, religion, disability, or any other personal characteristic is not acceptable here.
3. Cultivate a Safe and Inclusive Space
We are committed to being a sanctuary for all. Create and maintain a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and safe to express themselves.
Respect others' boundaries and be mindful of potential triggers. If you are unsure about the impact of your words, choose to be cautious.
Participation in this community is voluntary. If discussions become overwhelming, it’s okay to step away and take care of your mental and emotional health.
4. Respect Privacy and Confidentiality
Maintain the privacy of others by not sharing personal information without consent. This is a space for vulnerability and healing; protect that by keeping sensitive information confidential.
While we strive for privacy, understand that complete confidentiality cannot be guaranteed due to the online nature of this space. Share personal details responsibly.
5. Maintain Appropriate Content and Conduct
This community values a holistic, life-giving spirituality. Keep discussions and shared content safe for all members, avoiding NSFW (Not Safe For Work) materials or any content that may be considered harmful or illegal.
Engage in conversations that honor the designated channels. Use specific spaces for particular topics, whether it’s for socializing, discussing spirituality, or sharing resources.
Refrain from spamming, trolling, or engaging in disruptive behavior.

6. Supportive Engagement Over Prescriptive Approaches
TRT believes in offering supportive spaces for exploration rather than dictating specific practices or beliefs. Feel free to seek advice and suggestions, but remember that your spiritual journey is unique to you.
When determining how to approach sharing your beliefs or opinions in this space, please ensure it fits the community guidelines.
Offer support and encouragement to others as they find their own paths, honoring diverse perspectives and experiences.
7. No Unsolicited Advertising or Self-Promotion
Self-promotion, advertising, or solicitation is only permitted in designated channels or with prior approval from moderators.
If you have an article, resource, project or event that aligns with our community values, seek moderator approval before sharing even in response to a query from the community.
8. Follow Moderator Guidance
Moderators are here to ensure this space remains nurturing and safe. Follow their instructions and respect their decisions.
If you have concerns about moderation or the behavior of other members, address these issues privately and respectfully with the moderators.
Moderators are not equipped to support community members through crisis situations and thus they will be limited to sharing referral resources for mental health or crisis situations to members.
9. Mindful Engagement in Events
Participate in events that resonate with you, whether it's a discussion on spirituality, social justice, or a creative activity. Engage thoughtfully and contribute positively.
We may host fewer but more impactful events to deepen engagement and foster meaningful connections. Take advantage of these opportunities to connect with others.
10. Commit to Self-Care and Personal Responsibility
Everyone comes with their own experiences and challenges. Practice self-care and step back when you need to. Your well-being is important.
Be accountable for your actions and words, and commit to creating a community that reflects the values of kindness, inclusion, and safety.
11. Report Concerns and Issues
If you witness behavior that violates these guidelines or makes you feel unsafe, please report it to a moderator. Reports are taken seriously and will be handled with care and confidentiality.
We are committed to being a trauma-aware space. If harm occurs, we will take responsibility, make amends, and adjust our practices as needed.
Final Thoughts
This community is a place to recover, reconnect, and rebuild. We honor each person’s background, journey, and individuality. By adhering to these guidelines, you help us create a space where everyone can experience the “unforced rhythms of grace” and feel genuinely seen and supported. Thank you for being a part of The Remembered Table community.
